This essay practically assesses McPhilips Nwachukuwu’s thematic preoccupations in his first collection of poetry entitled So Long a Night. It examines the poet’s focus on such themes as death, traditional serial killers, how the living cope with death and dying, what happens when one is caught between life and death, and what it means to live in a society that corrodes one’s morality.
The growth response of phytoplankton was examined in organic manure and inorganic manure and inorganic fertilizers. The organic fertilizers used were cow dung, poultry droppings as well as their combination with inorganic fertilizer while the inorganic fertilizer was NPK triple super phosphate (ratio 15: 17: 17). The study involved both natural (aerial) and artificially inoculation of phytoplankton. The prominent phytoplankton from aerial inoculation was mainly Chlorella spp. and to a lesser extent Oscillatoria sp.
An investigation into the growth of okra on soil obtained from Oben (SPDC gas flaring site) was undertaken. Seedling emergence, shoot height and leaf area of 28-day old crop sown on soil dug 90 m away from the flare site was significantly reduced when compared to control. Also the activities of amylase, phosphorylase and protease extracted from 5- day old cotyledon were markedly inhibited when the crop was grown on both top and subsoil obtained 90 m from flare site.
It is shown that the 13 one parameter generators of the Lie group SL(6,R) are the maximal group of symmetries for nonrelativistic quantum systems. The group action on the set of states S H (H complex Hilbert space) preserves transition probabilities as well as the dynamics of the system. By considering a prolongation of the group action on H , we have a generalized rotation of state vectors in which norms are preserved. Thus one obtains new symmetries as well as new representations which aid in the simplification of the system.
The paper examines the place of sports in national development. It traces the history of grassroot sports in Nigeria from the pre-colonial period to post independent Nigeria. The factors that fostered the development of grassroot sports such as the empire day celebration and formation of
University of Benin is as one of the most popularly sough! for by candidates. With few faculties and departments at its inception in 1972, there are today eleven () 1) faculties, fifty seven (57) departments and five (5) institutes. There is therefore the need to assess the provisions and
This paper posits that the growth and development of the Nigerian construction industry should not just be a matter of abstract concern to the
government; rather it should proactively seek to protect and nurture it to growth, as a deliberate and viable economic policy aimed at tapping the vast potential of the industry, as has been done in many countries.
The study was designed to determine the performance of the Federal government in the implementation of its roles in the national sport policy. Forty-six leaders of state contingents to the national sports festivals held in Owarri, Imo State of Nigeria in 1998, provided information for the study. The results show that all the Federal roles were rated as poorly performed.
The perennial debt overhang of most developing countries have brought to the fore the need to develop domestic capital markets. However, in most developing countries, domestic capital markets have so far fallen short of expectations in spite of the great potential for financing
Gonococcal conjunctivitis is the inflammation of the conjunctiva caused by Neisseria gonorrhoea. It is a form of Opthalmia neonatorum. Infection by Neisseria gonorrhoea is a major cause of morbidity throughout the world. It had been reported that 42% of neonates exposed to N. gonorrhoea during delivery and 31% exposed to Chlamydia trachomatis develop conjunctivitis1. The incidence of gonococcal neonatal conjunctivitis is 0.3 per 1000 live birth in the United States and 40 per 1000 live births in Kenya2.
